Holiday Recipe Linky Party!

DeAnne over at First Grade and Fabulous is hosting this YUMMY linky party! She shared some delicious holiday foods and inspired me to start thinking of my faves!

Baking Christmas cut out cookies is what I love the most around the holidays. They are a tradition in my family and always bring good thoughts of holidays past.

Yes, they take some time with rolling the dough, cutting, frosting, etc. but the result is pretty and delicious. The following is a simple sugar cookie recipe that I have used for many years:

1 lb butter (makes all food taste good)
3 cups powdered sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
5 cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cream of tartar

Cream the butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Add dry ingredients. Bake at 350 for 8-10 mins. Baking depends on the thickness of your dough and the size of the cut outs.

I make the batter up ahead and put it in the fridge until the next day. In fact, I make up Toll House and gingerbread, too. All the batters are ready for me when I'm ready to bake. I don't have any actual photos of my cookies, so I did a little Google search...and here is what I WISH my cookies looked liked when I was finished! LOL!

                                                                   Happy Baking!!!
