My first thought was "Math? What books do I use?" THEN I went to my classroom library and remembered! I had a little giggle because I have a basket dedicated just to math...how could I forget?!
Here are the books in my math collection. I do like to use them when I introduce a concept.
I picked three specifically to share today. The first is Mathematickles. Not only is this a good book to share during math, but it's a perfect addition to your poetry collection.
Take a peek at how these poems are written in the form of math problems and they are all about seasons. Students would have to do some creative thinking to write poems in this form. I am going to add these to our poetry writing this month. I think my kids will love the challenge!
I love dogs and I love Measuring Penny by Loreen Leedy. (Check out Loreen's blog HERE)
If you are studying measurement in math, this is a must read! I like to use it as an introduction to our measurement unit.
G is for Google is a neat A to Z book about math. This is one of my favorite pages. I used to say this all the time when I was younger! I was NOT a math kid!
What a difficult concept! I liked the way it's explained here:Happy Reading!
Lots of great books! I love using Measuring Penny, I'm glad you posted about it...I need to get it from the Library!

Funny thing, Bee! I have about 100 math literacy books in my classroom library and only two of them are the ones you are showing here. Great, now I need to go refill my cart in Amazon again. I wish we could persuade our librarian to rebuild our teacher resource library.
ReplyDeleteMathematickles is an awesome math and poetry book! My kids love this writing project every year and continue to write them long after the project is done. Thanks for sharing!
