Thanks for coming to my virtual party and entering my giveaway! The winner is Courtney Slemp! Congratulations! (I emailed you today)

I love all the ideas for birthday celebrations in the classroom. In my class, the students can bring a treat for the class that can be passed out at lunch. I give the birthday kid a pencil and bookmark. They also get a birthday chair cover to use for the day.

I noticed many of you said you have kids bring in healthy snacks or there are no snacks at all for birthdays. Both fine ideas! At a recent faculty meeting, we discussed giving out candy treats as rewards. I personally don't use food as rewards, but I do think it's ok to have one now and then. As for birthdays, that is the one day that kids should have something special! How do you feel about candy rewards?

Thanks again for stopping by! Off to enjoy...

It's the start of the month and time to share some of my fave reads for St. Patrick's Day and Women in History Month.
Fiona's Luck by Teresa Bateman is an Irish folktale. Fiona has to find a way to restore the luck back in Ireland taken by the Leprechaun King.
I really like the illustrations in this book.

O'Sullivan Stew  by Hudson Talbott tells about Kate who, like Fiona, has to save the day. Another fun Irish folktale.

Jamie O'Rourke and the Big Potato: An Irish Folktale by one of my favorite authors, Tomie  dePaola. This is a fun tale of Jamie and how is tricked by a leprechaun (of course).

Lives of Extraordinary Women: Rulers, Rebels (and What the Neighbors Thought) by Kathleen Krull. This book is not one I would read aloud, but it makes a great resource.
My kiddos will be choosing famous women to research and using my All About Great Ladies Poster to organize their information. These make a perfect quick report or graphic organizer.
Check it out HERE in my TpT store.

Founding Mothers: Remembering the Ladies by Cokie Roberts and illustrated by Diane Goode. I LOVE this book. It tells the stories of the women behind the scenes of the Revolutionary War. It's the newest edition to my classroom and I can't wait to use it for our reports.

Classroom Freebies Manic Monday

Stop by TpT and pick up this little St. Pat's Freebie. Enjoy it along with your books!

I have not participated in Farley's Currently linky in a long, long while! I just felt like today was the day to get back into it, so here goes!

Listening to my daughter clean...no she's not doing it willing or without bribe! She is getting paid handsomely, but complaining along the way. I think chores are good for kids. Mine usually clean their own rooms and do not get paid for it. Today I asked Lily to clean her brother's room since he is gone all weekend so I figured a payment was necessary. Do your kids get an allowance or money for chores?

Loving the weather. We've had the windows open now for a few days. My orange blossoms are blooming and their yummy fragrance fills the house!
Thinking about SUMMER!! I can not wait!! I LOVE SUMMER!! I bet you do, too!! Any big plans for you??

Wanting to get more consistent with blogging. I've been neglecting it lately. Just seems like I've been so busy with school and home life. What is your routine for blogging and other social media?

I need WAY more time to teach everything that is expected in 3rd grade. There are just not enough hours in the day, especially to do all the lessons the way I would want to teach them. Testing is around the corner, too. I get so frustrated around this time of year. Do you?

It's MARCH...my birthday month! I'm like a kid around my birthday. I'm not thrilled with the number I'll be...I hit a milestone next year (a BIG one). I have to keep telling myself "it's only a number". It freaks me out sometimes when I think about age. To keep my mind off of it, I'll be having some surprises around the week of March 16th. Stay tuned!!

That's it for today! Head on over to visit Farley and link up or just read some fun Currentlys.

Please check out a fundraiser happening at TpT. 19 products for $25!! Click here to read the story of Xaivore Strong and to donate.
