5 for Friday

It's the last weekend of my winter break! Monday it's back to the classroom and my sweet third graders!  It's been a great two weeks off. Hanging out with my family. Getting stuff done around the house. Working on TpT and blogging.

Today I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday (I know I'm a day late). Here are my 5 random things from the week:

#1 I got a new purse (mentioned & pictured in a previous post) and I LOVE it!

#2 Got a HUGE laugh from my mom today. She recently lost her cell phone. We bought her a new one and I added her to my Family Plan to save her some cash. She emailed me today and the subject said "Found phone in a bag of potatoes". I laughed so hard!!! HOW does your phone get in a bag of potatoes?? She said she put the phone in the bag when she was getting out of the car and forgot about it!  My mom is 82, but you would never know it if you met her. Aside from some forgetfulness, she's amazing. Full of life. Meets new people where ever she goes. Cooks. Bakes. Everything! I just love her and she makes me laugh.

#3 Visited with my sister this week. She lives about an hour north of me and she is a teacher, too. Her daughter just had a baby and I can't get enough of him!! I mean look at that face!!

#4 Ordered some books today for my classroom for our Chinese New Year celebration. The books will be coming from a wonderful site called Better World Books. I love ordering from them for several reasons: for every book you order they donate a book, free shipping, lots of used inexpensive books, and they have hard to find books.  Here are some of the titles I ordered:

These titles link to Amazon because I don't know how to link to Better World yet! LOL!!

#5 I ordered those books (and a few more) because I just finished my product, Celebrating the Symbols of the Chinese New Year. This pack includes 5 activities about the symbols of the celebration. I included a writing page and a reference page for the Chinese zodiac. Your students will learn about the symbols and traditions of this festive holiday!

Link up even though it isn't Friday! :-)

  2. Hi Amanda,
Better World is a great place to order books. They are used but usually in great shape. I'm a great aunt so I guess that would make him my grand nephew! :-)

    1. The baby is yummy! Just spent the day with him and I just can't get enough! Better World is awesome especially if you don't mind used books. I love using them and order often. I've found out of print books there, too! Thanks for stopping by!

  4. Hi Gina,

Thanks for your kind comment on my blog :) As a newbie it's always nice to get some feedback. I've been poking around on your blog - it's great :) WHAT a cute grand-nephew! Definitely finish that hat you said you were going to crochet. Oh, I'm a procrastinator too - have abandoned all hope of ever not being one but will maybe get back to my unfinished quilting projects one day (I never learned how to crochet :) )

    1. Welcome Lynn! Glad you came by. I did make a quilt once...the only one I could do. It was so much work. I'm going to get back to crochet. I really like doing that! Thanks for stopping by.
